8 Ways People Really Mess Up Their Goal Setting

Robert Talbert said in a clip from The Second Wave Summit about remote learning, “We are now in this position where we have to iterate on this and get good at it. Everyone was okay with not being that great, and we gave each other grace and permission to not be at our best. Now we have to get this right.” This may seem like an impossible task when it comes to identifying best practices for remote learning because we are all just feeling around in the dark, right? Wrong.

Sometimes you find yourself doing everything right, but with the wrong results. Maybe you’ve set a goal. You’ve broken it down into smaller goals, drawn up a timeline, and made sure you had the resources you needed. You’ve been motivated and worked hard…and it feels as though you haven’t moved an inch closer to your goal. Maybe the goal has been the problem all along.Inevitably though, we would try and launch them as high as we could and then run as they began to fall to earth. Man, we were dumb and lucky, but mostly dumb.

If your arrow is properly matched to your bow then I would recommend a 100mm XS Wing. They are stiff enough to move heavy arrows and big enough to steer them effectively and straight for the short distance. However, a lot of people shoot arrows much bigger than is technically correct by shooting with over-hang. If you are miles off spine I would recommend feathers, because they slow the back end so much the arrow straightens very quickly. I have shot very impressive scores with arrows five spines off with five-inch feathers on them.

Now that we have a better understanding of what remote learning, blended learning, and Flipped Learning are, it is time to do them right. Let’s start with the simple truth that Flipped Learning is blended learning, but not all blended learning is Flipped Learning. That is worth repeating: Flipped Learning is blended learning, but not all blended learning is Flipped Learning. Flipped Learning is the best, most effective blended learning, and it comes with an entire set of globally sourced and vetted best-practices. It is a precise method of blended learning. There has been research, collaborative global cohorts, and educational leaders who have collaborated to design how to effectively flip a class, a unit, or a lesson.

Multiple goals quickly become an issue. As with setting goals that are too broad, there’s no need to focus in and achieve. You can justify spending your energy on whatever’s in front of you, which means you’ll never get where you want to be–and negates the whole point of having goals. On the other hand, plastic vanes may be a lot more durable if you are shooting single-spot tournaments as feathers ruffle and damage, particularly if shot from a compound, and Mylar vanes can be damaged by consistent tight grouping too. There is so much in the GEEFL that you will pour over them again and again to develop the best education that your students deserve.
